Gaby Moreno César

I am a senior in the Digital Media Design (DMD) program at the University of Pennsylvania. DMD is an interdisciplinary major in the School of Engineering and Applied Science with coursework in computer science, design, and human factors.

My interests lie in the field of human-computer interaction, social computing, online collaboration, information visualization, and computer science outreach targeting youth and women.

Since my first year at UPenn, I have worked in collaboration with the Computer and Information Sciences department on developing programs that will promote and retain women in computer science (WiCS). This includes increasing the number of fully sponsored members we send to the annual Grace Hopper Conference for Women in Computing, running our high school outreach programs, and most recently the founding of a WiCS themed college dorm floor.

For my senior research project, I am building a special-interest social network for WiCS groups in schools around the nation called WiCS University. My goal is to test design strategies and interaction techniques that will enable WiCS groups to share, learn and build relationships with each other.

You can follow me on Twitter and LinkedIn.
